Security of Critical Infrastructure by Multi-Modal Dynamic Sensing and AI
Stakeholders of critical industrial and civil infrastructure, e.g., airports, power plants and road networks, frequently suffer from the disruptions caused by an overwhelming diversity of man-made physical safety and security threats ranging from well-organised crime activities to low-level but costly actions like vandalism. SINTRA aims to improve the resilience and protection of these critical infrastructures by developing an open data-streaming AI platform that enables interoperability, information sharing, and privacy protection. Using multi-modal sensing and AI-powered data analysis, it will provide a comprehensive view of the infrastructure’s safety and security and detect complex anomalies.
Main goals of sintra for sensoan
Sensoan aims to learn needs and operation environment of the critical infrastructure actors to create better solutions for their needs. For critical infrastructure actors we aim to provide better understanding of their operation environment by creating multi-modal dynamic sensing solutions. The goal is also to take into account EU privacy protection to better suit the needs of different operation environments.

Our concept
Harbours and some other critical infrastructures have larger areas to monitor and secure. Most places have cameras but they can cover only so much and also often rely on human eyes to catch the unusual activities. We aim to help to do just that from the first physical barrier and beyond. Our sensors are looking for unusual activities near the fences and reporting those to security offices to help guards to focus their gazes to relevant activities.
